Saturday's schedule will finish with an exciting Mixed Team Relay. Teams of two males and two females will take on the Olympic format, each swimming 300m, cycling 6km and running 2km. This event will be strictly limited to 150 teams.
For the main event (mixed team relay) each team will consist of two males and two females. Team members must race in the order male > female > male > female. There will also be an 'open' category for teams consisting of any other male/female combinations including all-male and all-female teams.
Anyone wanting to share a fun, exiting, fast-paced race with friends and teammates. A great warm-up for anyone racing the main traithlon events the next day.
Awards will be presented to the winning mixed team (two males and two females). There will also be awards for the first 'open' team and the first all-female team.
The swim will be a simple triangle, starting from the Lifeguard's Beach. You will head a short distance to the east before following a tria
The bike route will be a 1.5km lap completed four times for each competitor. The route heads west along Eastbourne seafront for 750m, climbing gradually to the turn point before returning downhill back to the Western Lawms. There is a total of 15m of elevation gain/loss per lap.
The 2km run will be on an out-and-back route, initially on tarmac and then onto a garvel path. There is a very slight gradient heading up to the turn point.
The exchange point will take place close to the finish line on the Westrern Lawns. The incoming runner will pass the team's timing chip to the next team member who will attach it to their ankle before running to the beach to begin the swim. As the final runner passes the exchnage area, the other team members can join them to run down the finish straight together.
